Avoid GE Salmon – Best Fish Oil

We know how to choose the best fish oil for pregnancy, but you may have to pay attention to the following news:

It was announced at Nov 19, 2015, AquAdvantage Salmon, from AquaBounty Technologies, Inc., have been evaluated the genes keep stable over several generations of the fish. This genetically engineered salmon is safe to eat by humans beings, just same as those Non GE Atlantic salmon.

The growth speed of the GE Salmon is about twice as non-genetically engineered salmon, the company AquaBounty Technolgies said that there is no significant differences in levels of growth hormone, thyroid hormones T3 and T4, insulin-like growth factor-1(IGF1), testosterone or estrogen.

From the FDA Draft Guidance 2015 document, the FDA will not require this GE salmon to be labeled as genetically-engineered; meanwhile, for those sellers of Non GE salmon it is allowed to have this state on the label.

We’re chasing the best fish oil, the GE fish oil source will not be a good choice although it is may very cheap. Especially the GE food source shall be avoid in the daily food ingredient or supplement for pregnant women.

Here we have some thoughts to avoid the GE salmon in the best fish oil for pregnancy:

1, Choose the non GE salmon.

Normally we will have following fish source to choose for fish oil product which can provide high levels of omega 3 fatty acids:

  • Sardines
  • Anchovies
  • Bluefish
  • Carp
  • Catfish
  • Halibut
  • Herring
  • Whitefish
  • Mackerel
  • Salmon
  • White Tuna

Be careful, if the fish source is from salmon.
